Habitat: N-facing slope near top of hill, long-ungrazed (never grazed?) woods of Quercus rubra, Q. alba, Carya cordiformis, Populus grandidentata, with Podophyllum peltatum, Adiantum pedatum, Osmunda claytonii.
Occurrence Remarks: Loose clump of ca. 15 stems of various sizes, to 5 m tall, cm in diameter, then senescent. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw, this the largest healthy stem seen among dozens of clumps here. Only some branches with the very inconspicuous and very immature fruits.
