Habitat:
Patch of woods which grew up in fencerow and abandoned corner of field, on gentle SE-facing slope of small valley, without stream, surrounded by cultivated fields. With Carya ovata, Juglans nigra, Celtis occidentalis, Ulmus americana, one U. pumila.
Occurrence Remarks:
[Sheet 2 of 3] Voucher for wood specimen, MADw.; Tree 19 m tall, 35 cm in diameter. Inflorescences with 1-2 (-3) nuts; husks still intact, green, splitting during drying. This tree is very healthy and with much of the canopy in the sun; only about 30 inflorescences produced nuts.
