Habitat: Marshy, with Alnus incana spp. rugosa, Salix spp., Spiraea alba, Larix laricina, Picea mariana, with Sphagnum but no Ericaceae.
Occurrence Remarks: Clump of slender stems 1.3 m tall, to 6 mm in diameter, definitely much less robust and woody than the more common S. alba. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw. Leaves light tan beneath.
