Habitat: Pine Barren in sand prairie with scattered small trees and low shrubs. Growing with Quercus macrophylla, Q. rubra, Comptonia peregrina, Diervilla lonicera, Achillea millefolium, Andropogon gerardii, Apocynum androsaemifolium, Carex pensylvanica, Heucherea richardsonii, Hieracium scabrum, Liatris aspera, Solidago speciosa, etc.
Occurrence Remarks: Analysis of the Vegetative Cover of the Brule River Watershed, Revisited 2015-2018. Perennial herb with yellow ray flowers.
