Habitat:
Shallow water with slurpy bottom of decaying organic matter, swampy wetland fringe of pond in morainal depression; under Alnus incana subsp. rugosa and Ilex verticillata with Carex comosa, C. diandra, C. leptalea subsp. leptalea, Dulichium arundinaceum, Eleocharis erythropoda, Lemna minor, Lycopus uniflorus, and Sagittaria latifolia. Mixed with Lemna "minor."
