Habitat: Prairie remanant on steep, southeast-facing slope now becoming overgrown with Euphorbia esula and seedlings of Juglans nigra, Ulmus and Quercus macrocarpa. Also present: Sisyrinchium, Amorpha canescens, Toxicodendron radicans, Ambrosia artemisiifolia, Apocynum androsaemifolium, Chenopodium album, Asclepias syriaca, Carya ovata, Physalis, Medicago, Rhus, Asclepias tuberosa, Schizachyrium scoparium, Andropogon gerardii, Tragopogon. [Sheet 2 of 2] Packera plattensis in two small groupings of a few individuals each. ]Clone 2 (collected of A.M. Mahoney, Jun 3, but pressed by R.R. Kowal) of] 2 clones seen near top of bluff prairie; ~10 more occur on bottom of bluff and even more on the lower prairie, separated by woodland. Cytological material collected (6:55 PM): individual heads from most stalks of clone 1 (of 2), as plants are at mid anthesis.
