Locality:
United States, Wisconsin, Grant, S of Woodman, SW of Big Green River & Green River School.
Habitat:
On rock outcrop in pasture. Loamy soil between rocks where individuals are rooted with pH = 7.8-8.0 (the same as in a nearby corn field); clay soil of pasture with pH 5.6-5.8. Some in light shade of Betula papyrifera & Tilia american. With Poa compressa, P. angustifolia Daucus Carota, Achillea Millefolium, Erigeron strigosus, Rhus glabra, Euphorbia, Ambrosia artemisia folia, Tragopogon dubius, Plantago lanceolata, Toxicodendron radicans, Aquilegia canadensis, Lobelia spicata, Potentilla arguta, Campanula rotundifolia, Aster.
Occurrence Remarks:
Primary Sampling Unit (PSU) 3. Past fruiting. Voucher for chromosome counts of cultivated Individuals 2, 3, 6, 9 & 10: 2n = 22 II with 7, 5, 4, 11 & 8 cells counted, respectively (1972 Jun 11 & 12, 1971 Feb 22, 1972 Jun 11, 1972 Mar 31, 1972 Apr 6, respectively); Individual 5, a tetraploid: 2n = ca 85-88, 1 cell in Anaphase I counted (1971 Mar 20).
