Habitat: Growing on peaty bog mat near water's edge and back into the partially open Thuja occidentalis and Laris laricina swales at the outer edge of the bog.
Occurrence Remarks: Common shrub to 1 meter tall. Petals bright yellow; sepals green. Last year's fruiting capsules persisting. Leaves green above with silvery white hairs beneath.
