Middle zone of beach between lowest edge of white oak-black oak woods and open wet sandy lake shore, small landlocked lake in outwash deposits at base of terminal moraine. Assoc.: Agrostis scabra, Elaeagnus umbellata, Eupatorium perfoliatum, Salix exigua ssp. interior, Solidago canadensis, and Symphyotrichum lateriflorum. Low shrub (shoot).
