Habitat: Badly degraded sedge meadow in calcareous wetland complex (mostly prairie); assoc.: Angelica atropurpurea, Caltha palustris, Carex pellita, Chelone glabra, Cornus racemosa, Galium boreale, Iris virginica, Lathyrus palustris, Lonicera Xbella, Pycnanthemum virginianum, Rhamnus frangula (rare), Ribes americanum (rare), Rubus idaeus var. strigosus, Salix bebbiana, S. discolor, Solidago gigantea, Stachys tenuifolia, Symphyotrichum lanceolatum, and S. puniceum. Soboliferous shrub, forming a colony of ca. 70 stems, these mostly ca. 2.0 m tall.
