Along very edge of packed gravel "fines" composing roadbed, in semishade of junky young woodland (Elaeagnus umbellata, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Lonicera Xbella, Prunus serotina, Quercus spp.) completely overgrowing former prairie on right-of-way. Assoc.: Cerastium fontanum, Medicago lupulina, and Plantago rugelii, little else.
Forming linear colonies transitional between path and 2-yd.-wide transition zone of weedy vegetation that in turn gives way to woodland.
