Habitat: Narrow strip of Populus tremuloides woodland with Betula papyrifera, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, & in places Thuja occidentalis. Assoc.: Arctium minus, Carex castanea, Cornus stolonifera, Diervilla lonicera, Eurybia macrophylla, Fragaria virginiana, Prunus virginiana, Ranunculus hispidus, Pteridium aquilinum, Viburnum lantana, & V. opulus ssp. opulus. Petals whitish (pink on abaxial side). Four small trees seen in one short stretch of the 1.1 mi. length we walked, in the more open edge of the woodland verging on grassy right-of-way.
