Habitat: Moist prairie/fen on S edge of pipeline corridor, on terrace above floodplain. With Carex pellita, C. haydenii, Salix petiolaris, Ratibida pinnata, Allium canadense, Aster firmus, Eleocharis elliptica, E. compressa, Packera paupercula, Hierochloe. Fraxinus pensylvanica seedlings common. Fruits infected with fungal smut (ustilaginales).
