Habitat: 25-acre southern mesic hardwood forest on rather hilly undulating morainal topography with S-, E-, and W-facing exposures, kettle depressions, and low areas that hold water part of the year. Dominated by Acer saccharum, with Quercus borealis and Fraxinus americana subdominant and Fagus grandifolia and Tilia americana in lesser amounts; groundlayer exceedingly rich, including uncommon and interesting spp. Assoc. (7857): Claytonia virginica, Hepatica acutiloba, Hydrophyllum virginianum, Polygonatum pubescens, Ranunculus abortivus, Sanguinaria canadensis, Uvularia grandiflora, Viola pubescens, etc.. Richest woodland tract in the Natural Areas system.
