Habitat:
A sandstone pinnacle at wayside along highway. Surrounded by sandy woods of Acer rubrum, Quercus alba, Q. velutina. Shrub 4.5 m. tall, several stems to 10 cm. in diameter. This species gets to 7 m. tall here. Fruit green, then red, then dark wine red, pleasantly juicy and edible.
