Habitat: Growing in open canopy tamarack swamp in deep sphagnum moss with Betula pumila, Trientalis borealis, cranberries, Ledum groenlandicum. Immediate associates are Carex disperma, C. leptalea, Linnaea borealis, & Rubus idaeus. One clump with 10-20 fruiting culms noted. No other clumps seen. Mixed collection with Carex trisperma.
