Habitat: In 1.0--1.5 meters of water on a sand bottom covered with a few inches of muck, among sparse vegetation consisting of Nymphaea odorata, Sparganium eurycarpum, "wild rice" (Zizania, probably Z. palustris), Ceratophyllum demersum, Megalodonta beckii, Armoracia lacustris, and Potamogeton richardsonii.
