Prairie vegetation on low level sand ridge between two swales, upper terrace of river floodplain, never plowed but mowed almost annually. Assoc. a mixture of dry to wet-ground spp.: Agrostis gigantea-aspect dominant, Campanula aparinoides, Dichanthelium boreale, Erigeron strigosus-abundant, Galium boreale, Heuchera richardsonii, Hieracium longipilum, Lathyrus palustris, Lobelia spicata, Onoclea sensibilis, Oxypolis, Pedicularis canadensis, Phleum, Potentilla simplex, Prunella, Ratibida, Rudbeckia hirta-abundant, Veronicastrum virginicum, Zizia aurea, Achillea, Heliopsis, Trifolium pratense, etc. 79 clumps counted, these with from 6--81 shoots, 3--60 fertile & 1--21 sterile in any one clump.
