Two-thirds of the way up steep, E-facing slope of narrow, limestone (dolomite)-capped ridge. Assoc.: Achillea millefolium, Aquilegia canadensis, Cirsium hillii (common), Dodecatheon meadii (abundant), Erigeron pulchellus, Hypoxis hirsuta, Monarda fistulosa, Oxalis violacea, Pycnanthemum virginianum, Symphyotrichum ericoides, and S. oolentangiense (abundant). Short-rhizomatous, mat-forming. Abundant. N.B. Carex meadii and C. umbellata present a little downslope and upslope.
