Habitat:
On terrace right above floodplain, 1000 ft. N of old farm buildings; roughly 5 acres (air photo shows pipeline running right through what would have been a more extensive prairie area). Medium-quality prairie remnant; substrate marly in places, peaty in others (especially in depressions), with crayfish burrows; assoc.: Carex pellita (!) the very abundant dominant, with Allium canadense, Anemone canadensis, Calamagrostis canadensis (very rare), Carex hystericina, C. stricta (rare), C. vulpinoidea, Eleocharis compressa, Helianthus grosseserratus (rare), Hierochloe hirta ssp. arctica, Juncus dudleyi, Packera paupercula, Salix bebbiana, and Symphyotrichum puniceum.
Occurrence Remarks:
Low slender shrub.
