Habitat: Southern dry-mesic forest, Tilia americana dominant (Acer saccharum and Juglans cinerea rare in canopy) with more open areas dominated by Populus grandidentata; understory of Carya cordiformis,Corylus cornuta, Fraxinus pennsylvanica, Ostrya virginaiana, and Prunus virginiana; groundlayer assoc. for 14879--14881: Anemone acutiloba, Bromus pubescens, Carex radiata, Hydrophyllum virginianum, Mitella diphylla, Smilax ecirrhata, also Actaea-2 spp., Athyrium, Circaea, Ribes, Sanguinaria, Trillium, etc.
