Southern dry-mesic forest on ridgetop above river; canopy formerly Quercus rubra-Q. alba, cut 75 years ago and now Acer saccharum-Ostrya virginiana-Carya cordiformis-Ulmus rubra, devoid of Quercus; groundlayer: Acer saccharum & Carya cordiformis seedlings, Athyrium filix-femina var. angustum, Caulophyllum thalictroides, Geranium maculatum, Laportea canadensis, Parthenocissus quinquefolia, Polygonatum biflorum, Ribes cynosbati, & Viola pubescens var. scabriuscula. Locally abundant; approx. 500 plants appeared suddenly after a burn 1.5 years ago, this sp. not noticed here before then. Sheet 2 of 2.
