Undisturbed northern mesic forest, dominated by Acer saccharum, with Tilia americana, Tsuga canadensis, Betula allegheniensis, and scattered Pinus strobus and Thuja occidentalis; shrub layer minimally developed but herbaceous flora rich. Marshy, thickety margin of small (5-acre), sedge-meadow-filled kettle depression in middle of SNA. Assoc.: Calla palustris, Carex brunnescens, C. stipata, Cardamine pensylvanica, Impatiens capensis, and Mentha arvensis among downed moss-covered logs.
