Habitat: Tall outcrops of a limestone escarpment bordering a broad limestone shelf along the modern shoreline. Often with wet local depressions, fissures and cracks. Limestone flats, in cracks, ledges and fissures of limestone on boulder surfaces and outcrop escarpment (rock outcrop). Limestone flats of Niagara escarpment at water's edge high above splash-line. Margins of adjacent forest with Thuja occidentalis (white cedar), and paper birch (Betula cordifolia), and sugar maple seedlings (Acer saccharum). Veronica spp., Carex albursina (protected rock crevice growing fissure), Danthonia spicata.
