Habitat: Limestone escarpment comprised of a narrow, low shelf next to the broad flats of silty sand and cobblestones along modern shoreline. Sparsely-vegetated, cobblestone flats. Reed canary grass (Phalaris arundinacea) present. Agrostis scabra, Lobelia kalmii, Lycopus americanus, Juncus nodosus, Baltic rush (Juncus arcticus var. balticus), Aster spp., Agalinis [label truncated by printer?].
Occurrence Remarks: Eleocharis elliptica forms extensive colonies frequent over a large area forming mats 2-4 m in diameter over a 40-50 m area, comprising 5-25% of the total cover. Stems distinctly orange-colored. Inflorescence spike without scales on achenes. Wpt 74.
