Habitat: Sand beaches with well developed complex of primary, secondary and occasionally tertiary dunes and swales; infrequently with active blowouts. Often dominated by beach grasses. Eleocharis erythropoda growing in wet sand with limestone flats near water's edge. Low limestone beach, dune swale with cobbles mixed with sand and silt. Salix exigua, Salix eriocephala, Solidago canadensis, Eupatorium perfoliatum, Populus tremuloides seedlings, Scirpus cyperinus, Baltic rush (Juncus arcticus var. balticus), Poa palustris, Agrostis scabra, Cirsium vulgare, Lycopus americanus, Cirsium arvense, Polygonum lapathifolium.
