Habitat: Alnus rugosa thicket (undisturbed) along small stream, forming a well marked transition zone between Salix spp.-Cornus shrub carr and Thuja occidentalis swamp. Additional field notes for Cochrane et al. 6479: Populus balsamifera (common), Osmunda claytonia, Matteucia struthiopyteris (prevalent), Onoclea sensibilis, Pilea pumila (abundant), Prunus virginiana, Rhamnus cathartica (common), Vitis riparia, Cornus stolonifera, Viburnum opulus ssp trilobum.
