Habitat:
Quercus alba-Acer rubrum woods on steep W-facing sandy loamy slopes associated with huge Camrian sandstone cliff above creek. Under large Pinus strobus and straggly Alnus rugosa with Ilex verticillata, Osmunda claytoniana, Polypodium vulgare, Polygonatum pubescens, Maianthemum canadense var. interius, Vaccinium myrtilloides, Sorbus decora, and Betula alleghaniensis. Frequent small colonies on ledges and adjacent outcrops.
