Habitat:
Wet-mesic prairie on poorly drained level ground (old bed of Glacial Lake Scuppernong), with Andropogon gerardii, Baptisia bracteata, Sorghastrum nutans, Sporobolus heterolepis, Liatris spicata, willow clones (incl. Salix myricoides, S. petiolaris), etc. Immediate assoc. of Carex 14336: Dodecatheon meadii, Fragaria virginiana, Geum triflorum, Heuchera richardsonii, Phlox pilosa, Schizachyrium scoparium, and Sporobolus heterolepis. Very local, forming a circular, almost turf-like clone 11 ft. across.
