Habitat:
Inner higher flat beach and dunes (with Calamovilfa longifolia magna, Cirsium pitcheri, Ammophila breviligulata, Agropyron dasystachyum psammophilum, Prunus pumila, Solidago gillmani). Tussock grass in pure stand on lawn below house; evidently planted (important, since it does very well here); elsewhere sparingly escaped; variable stems and inflorescences dark purple.
