Habitat:
Moist ground, more or less marshy shore of small island. Bottomland hardwood forest (very immature, the dominant tree the naturalized Catalpa speciosa), dried sloughs, and grassy marshes at the river's edge, the whole area now pastureland, along river. Associated species for Cochrane & Cochrane 11500: Eleocharis erythropoda (abundant), Impatiens capensis seedlings, Acer saccharinum seedlings, little else. Local, 5 clumps; one clump with 48 flring. culms collected.
