Habitat:
Thuja occidentalis woods (Thuja in all size classes, with Betula papyrifera & Tilia americana) developed on low cliffs and steep, W-facing slopes of escarpment face; soil reddish, silty clayey loam, thin; mesic, well-drained habitat. On dolomite ledge below cliff in shade. Assoc.: Aquilegia canadensis, Cerastium fontanum, and Oxalis stricta (O. europaea). Rare.
