Habitat:
Rocky or grassy roadside bank at base of river bluff with thin woods of Quercus spp., Juglans nigra, Rhus typhina; the bank with a few prairie plants, Rhus glabra, Sporobolus asper, Xanthoxylum americanum, Verbascum thapsus and no. 22034 Tridens flavus (L.) Hitchc. (This species forming patches of many plants, the largest patch 8 m. long, a few smaller ones scattered, all on steep bank on upper side of road; there is apparently a larger patch on the lower side of the road but mostly mowed off. This seems to be the only colony of Tridens flavus along this section of the hwy; it is the same colony collected Oct. 7, 1972 as Nee 5363).
