Habitat:
Along bank of right of way of highway. Nearly a solid stand of this grass planted along Interstate. Sheet 1 of 2. [Sheet 1 is v0229605WIS, sheet 2 is v0229612WIS]. The Hwy Dept. is planting the following combinations of grasses on roadsides such as I-94 from Madison to Milwaukee. 65% Kentucky 31 Fescue, 10% Kentucky Bluegrass #21, 15 % Creeping red Fescue, 5% Redtop, & 5% Perennial Rygrass. The Kentucky 31 Fescue is apparently an ecotype developed in Kentucky which has been found to be valuable for forming a thick cover and is very salt tolerable.
