Semi-wooded springy seep with rank, weedy-looking vegetation of mostly native spp.; assoc.: Angelica atropurpurea, Aster firmus (locally abundant), Aster lanceolatus, Celastrus scandens (locally frequent), Cirsium arvense, Heliopsis helianthoides, Rubus occidentalis, Rudbeckia subtomentosa, Silphium integrifolium, Silphium perfoliatum (locally common), Solanum dulcamara, Solidago gigantea (locally abundant).
Occurrence Remarks:
Sheet 1 of 4. One very local population, of two contiguous, oval-shaped, diffuse clumps or patches, one 5 X 3 ft. with 32 stems, the other 3 X 2 ft. with 120 stems. Stems erect to stiffly ascending, 10.8--21.6 dm tall. The arboretum's Mark K. Leach says, "I've always assumed it [the coreopsis] was planted."
