Habitat: Dry-mesic prairie on lower-middle slope of W-facing ridge, surrounded by mostly open, agricultural land; soil = Dodgeville silt loam. Assoc.: Anemone cylindrica, Antennaria plantaginifolia, Apocynum sibiricum, Pastinaca sativa, Physalis virginiana, Poa pratensis, Rosa sp., Solidago speciosa, Sorghastrum nutans, Symphyotrichum ericoides, Symphyotrichum oolentangiense. Nine loose clumps in an area 15 ft. long, 6 ft. wide at one end, 9 ft. wide at the other, each of 1--2 sterile shoots plus 0--4 fertile shoots (1--5 shoots total/clump).
