Habitat:
Lovely 18-acre, dry-mesic to mesic remnant. Edge of mesic prairie on lower zone of W-facing slope, surrounded by mostly open, agricultural land; soil = Dodgeville silt loam. Assoc.: Apocynum sibiricum, Asclepias syriaca, Bromus inermis (very abundant), Erigeron annuus, Linaria vulgaris, Silphium integrifolium, Solidago canadensis, S. rigida, and Urtica dioica ssp. gracilis (very abundant). SW corner of NW 1/4 of site, just outside (N of) thickly wooded draw and just in (upslope) from W edge of prairie tract. Very local; one plant consisting of a clump of 49 shoots (22 fertile, 27 sterile); stems at ground level occupying an area 2.2 m across, lvs at top, 10 m across. Sheet 1 of 2.
