Habitat:
Rich northern wet forest with relatively open canopy of tamarack and black spruce. Sphagnum and numerous Carex species present including Carex trisperma, Carex disperma, Carex chordorrhiza, Carex magellanica. Also present: Platanthera obtusata, Vaccinium macrocarpon, Menyanthes, Ledum groenlandicum, Smilacina trifolia, Monotropa uniflora, Salix pedicellaris, bog birch, Carex stricta, Andromeda, and Sarracenia purpurea. Very few fruits remain on Carex tenuiflora; no way of estimating population size.
