Habitat: Found at edge of a dry prairie which is adjacent to an oak forest/woods. Associates include: Quercus alba, Rhus glabra, Poa compressa, Andropogon scoparius, Hystrix patula, Solidago speciosa, Desmodium canadense, Kuhnia eupatorioides, Monarda fistulosa, Comandra umbellata, Pancium oligosanthes var. scribnerianum, Panicum leibergii, Lespedza capitata, Taenidia integerrima.
