Habitat:
Sandy waste land - soil dry. More/less 50 cm high, slightly decumbent at base - texture soft. Upper sheath much more inflated, longer than blade. Spikes (dense panicles - not racemes) 4-7 mm broad, 4-7 cm long, dense, soft. Spikelets 5-6 mm long. Glumes membraneous, 2, subequal, slightly shorter than lemma, ciliate on keel, conspicuously nerved lemma equalling or exceeding glumes, membranaceous, pallea none; lemma provided with a soft curved awn near base. Awn exseted 4-5mm. Stamens 3; stigmas 2. Not common only 1 plant found in this vicinity although sp. has been observed elsewhere in Co. Sheet 2 of 3.
