Habitat: Sandy open area just uphill between oak savanna and old fields. In old unused corner of farm between 2 former crop fields. Dense cover of brome grass but not cultivated, if at all, for more than 75 years. Few if any other native forbs. Flower pink, upright shrub at least 6 feet tall. Thorns large, backward curving. Plants appear to be spontaneous, no know cultivation history of the rose species on the farm.
