Habitat: With Carex crinita, Equisetum hyemale, Acer saccharum--Tilia americana forest, with Betula alleghaniensis & Fraxinus nigra; uneven rocky terrain, wet from seepage, with springy pockets & fallen mossy logs; lower SW-facing slope. Assoc. species for Cochrane & Cochrane 9361-9369, 9416: Equisetum arvense, Athyrium angustum, Onoclea sensibilis, Osmunda claytoniana, Drypoteris cristata, Thelypteris phegopteris, Glyceria canadensis, G. stricta, Carex disperma, C. scabrata, C. stipata, C. intumescens, C. projecta, C. retrorsa (in wettest spots), Clintonia borealis, Laportea canadensis, Actaea rubram, Impatiens biflora, Circaea alpina, Sium suave, Mertensia paniculata, Aster macrophyllus, A. puniceus. Abundant, esp. along creek.
