Habitat: At very edge of an advancing wave of trembling aspen saplings, associated with Agrostis gigantea, Carex scoparia, Castilleja coccinea, Lilium michiganense, Luzula multiflora, & Sphenopolis intermedia. Fifty-acre "restored" wet-mesic sand prairie, re-created by Henry C. Greene almost single handedly using various techniques, starting in 1943 and working until about 1960, including the planting of Calopogon corms during 1948--1951.
