Habitat:
Growing on rich, wet fen mats bordering two bog lakes grading to tamarack, black spruce, cedar and alder. Associated species were numerousand included rarities as Drosera linearis, Platanthera dilatata, Triglochin maritimum, Arethusa bulbosa, and Carex livida. Cypripedium reginae and Carex tenuiflora are found just off the floating mat, under semi-open tamarack/fir/cedar. Other associates included Scirpus hudsonianus, Iris versicolor, Menyanthes, Sarracenia, Calopogon, Pogonia, Potentilla palustris, Drosera rotundifolia, D. intermedia, Scheuchzeria, Utricularia cornuta, Thelypteris palustris, Equisetum fluviatile, Liparis loeselii, Platanthera lacera, Andromeda, Ledum, Rhynchospora alba, Dulichium, several Carex species, and sphagnum. Several dozen stems, just beginning to flower.
