Habitat: Grassy swampy spot in old lane through northern wet-mesic forest. Weedy transition zone between moist grassy clearing and Thuja occidentalis-Betula papyrifera forest; sandy ground. Assoc.: Carex brunnescens, C. projecta, C. houghtoniana, Epilobium angustifolium ssp. circumvagum, Aralia spinosa, Diervilla lonicera, Prunus pensylvanica, Anaphalis margaritacea & tree (Populus tremuloides, Betula papyrifera, Acer saccharum) seedlings. Associated species for Cochrane & Cochrane 9325: Carex projecta, Juncus effusus, Ranunculus acris, Impatiens capensis, Chrysanthemum leucanthemum, Hieracium aurantiacum, Solidago canadensis.
