Habitat:
Openings along edge of woods (with Hydrophyllum virg., Geranium maculatum, & Ranunculus abortivus), lakeside banks, and open soil on pathsides (with Arctium minus, Taraxacum officianale, & Aster sp.); dry-mesic Quercus borealis woods with Tilia americana & Prunus serotina on N-facing slope. Cespitose, the small to large clumps with 2 to 40 culms; stems slender; leaves soft, light green. Frequent in occurence.
