Habitat: Very thin peaty humus atop moist sand, sloping base of flowage dike; very open and sunny, with no particular plant dominant and no tussock-forming Carices. Assoc.: Onoclea sensibilis, Thelypteris palustris, Typha latifolia, Agrostis scabra, Calamagrostis canadensis, Phalaris arundinacea.
