Habitat: Shore of river channel backwater both in sloping looser sand a little above & wet sand at water's edge. Quercus velutina woods with red & white pine & white oak on low rocky ridge of soft sandstone and flat plain of "Boone fine sand" along river channel. Additional field notes for Cochrane & Cohrane 5784: Open soil; plants of damp sand in partial shade of Acer saccharinum with Betula nigra, Cephalanthus occidentalis, & Physocarpus opulifolius. Assoc.: depauperate Carex projecta, Polygonum punctatum, Anthoceros sp., Equisetum arvense, Echinochloa muricata, Panicum virgatum, Lysimachia terrestris. Also with Aster lateriflorus.
