Habitat:
Semi-open spring seepage area and summer dry streamlet under Ulmus americana & Fraxinus nigra with Populus balsamifera, Salix bebbiana, Poa palustris, Calamagrostis canadensis, Scirpus cyperinus & Mentha arvensis. Edge of sugar maple forest. Additional assoc. for Cochrane et al. 6582-6587: Carex arcta, C. crinita, C. projecta, C. retrorsa, C. tuckermanii, and C. vesicaria in close association with each other in a small area, nearly excluding other herbaceous species. Culms in tussocks.
