Habitat: In peat, wetter margins near alders. Conifer swamp on deep peat deposit; Thuja occidentalis dominant, with ample Betula papyrifera, some Larix laricina, Picea mariana (only ca. 10 trees). Additional associates for Cochrane et al. 6486: Tree species.--Ulmus americana, Acer rubrum, Populus grandidentata, Fraxinus nigra (wet margins near alder thickets), Acer saccharum (margins toward uplands).
